Person hit by train between Ramsgate and Canterbury West

A person has been hit by a train between Ramsgate and Canterbury.

The collision is thought to have happened near Shallock Road crossing, Canterbury.

A witness said a car appeared to have been parked near to the track.

Services between Ramsgate and Canterbury West stations were significantly disrupted.

Lines were blocked while the emergency crews worked at the scene but have since been reopened although operator Southeastern says significant disruption is still expected.

It is affecting services between Charing Cross and Ramsgate and also St Pancras and Margate via Canterbury West.

Southeastern tweeted an update just before 11pm.

It said: "Emergency services are working to reopen the line, passengers on the affected train are being moved to a bus and the train will be taken to the depot. once this is all competed the line will reopen as soon as it can."
