A road was closed and a person has been taken to hospital after a fire broke out in a roof.

Four fire engines and a height vehicle were called to a property in Bridge Road near Canterbury just before 5pm.

Crews extinguished the flames and last night were damping down any hot spots left in the roof.

Paramedics were called and one person was taken to hospital after sustaining light burn injuries to their hands.

Parts of the road remain closed while firefighters are at the scene.

The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
