Fordwich rat-run shut off while roadworks take place

A busy-rat run used by thousands of drivers a day will be shut off while roadworks take place.

A closure will be enforced tomorrow in Moat Lane, Fordwich - the UK's smallest town - so contractors can carry out utility repairs and maintenance.

The route is used by motorists trying to bypass Canterbury's congested city centre, so traffic is expected to be worse than usual.

Kent County Council has approved the road closure in both directions so the work can be completed by South East Water.

It is set to be in place for five days.
