Teenager assaulted in Canterbury city centre

A teenage boy was assaulted in a city centre.

Police were called to Whitefriars Street in Canterbury and set up a police cordon at around 6pm.

The teenager was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance and is being treated for serious injuries.

A 16-year-old boy was later arrested in St Peter's Place on suspicion of grievous bodily harm.

He remains in police custody.

Rose Lane was closed off between Watling Street and Tesco Extra.

Officers are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that may assist the investigation to call Kent Police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 6-1409.
