An 18-year-old man has been killed after a car crashed into an electricity pole near Faversham.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision which happened at around 8am yesterday morning on the A251 Ashford Road.

A silver Vauxhall Corsa was travelling towards Faversham, close to the junction with the M2, when it collided with a wooden electricity pole.

The 18-year-old passenger in the car was pronounced dead at the scene after treatment by paramedics and the 18-year-old male driver was airlifted to hospital in London with serious chest and pelvic injuries.

He remains in hospital in a serious condition. Officers from Kent Police's Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the cause of the collision.
