Flooding at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury after pipe bursts

Kent's biggest theatre has been hit with flood damage after a pipe burst.

Water was sent spilling into bars and front-of-house areas at The Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury, after the pipe burst in its central heating system.

Spokesman Ben Travis said: "The main damage was to the flooring in our bar areas and a small number of electrical appliances - wifi routers and digital screens - will need replacing.

"We don’t have the precise cost of the damage as of yet, but are working with our insurers to establish that."

He added that the damage is "nothing that can't be fixed", and that they are hoping to carry out repairs in coming weeks.

The Marlowe has been closed throughout the coronavirus lockdown.
