Camping and caravanning park in Bekesbourne Lane, Canterbury, raided by thieves

More than 20 caravans have been broken into at a park.

The raid took place at the Canterbury Camping and Caravanning Club site in Bekesbourne Lane where a number of heavy duty batteries were stolen.

Police are also speaking to owners about any other possible losses from the caravans which were not occupied at the time.

The thefts took place in the early hours of last Saturday morning and officers are appealing for information from any witnesses who might have been in the area at the time.

Sgt Colette Todd from the Canterbury Community Safety Unit said: "These are heavy items and the offenders would have needed a vehicle to take them away.

"We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the thefts or who saw any suspicious vehicles parked up nearby during the relevant times to contact us.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who has since been offered caravan batteries for sale."
