London thug tasered after grabbing woman by neck at Canterbury hotel

A thug who grabbed a woman by the neck at a hotel was tasered by police shortly before being arrested.

Teo Weston had been banned from contacting his victim in April 2020 after a judge imposed a 10-year restraining order on him when he admitted putting her in fear of violence.

But last month the 35-year-old met the victim at the Old Gate Inn in New Dover Road, Canterbury, where he grabbed her by the neck before smashing a bottle and holding it to his own throat.

He was apprehended after being tasered, and was found to be in possession of the broken bottle, as well as a quantity of cannabis.

And at Canterbury Crown Court yesterday Weston, of Priory Road in Barking, was jailed for two years and eight months as he admitted a second charge of breaching a restraining order.

Speaking after Weston was sentenced, PC Philippa Wheeler said: "Kent Police puts victims at the heart of everything we do and obtaining court orders, like those in this case, is one of the tools open to us.

"Breaching those orders is a criminal offence and I am pleased the court has recognised the seriousness of that in imposing this prison sentence."

The east Londoner was also found to have entered his victim's street in Margate - which he was not allowed to do - last November.

He then followed the woman to a shop and acted aggressively towards her when she emerged from the premises.

In all, Weston pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching the restraining order, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of cannabis.

A new 10-year restraining order was imposed on him, to further protect the victim upon his release.
