Police called to Canterbury as lorry carrying digger gets 'stuck' in city centre

A truck was "stuck" in a popular Kent shopping area's historic streets for more than an hour.

Police were called to the centre of Canterbury just before 8.45am today, after receiving reports "a large vehicle" had become trapped.

Photographs show the lorry - which was carrying a digger - struggling to turn around near the Seven Stars pub.

A spokesman for the force said: "We were called to a report of a large vehicle stuck in Palace Street.

"Officers attended to assist while the vehicle was moved.

"The road was clear by about 10.20am."
