The second burglary took place later that day between 4.22pm and 4.27pm when a man carrying a shovel was confronted by the occupant and ran away.

It is thought the offenders may have accessed the rear of the property in both burglaries.

A witness reported seeing a white male, around 26-year-old, 5ft 6ins, with black hair and stubble acting suspiciously in the road at the time of both burglaries.

Detective Constable Pete Frampton said: "We believe these burglaries are connected and we are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything.

"We would also like to warn residents to be vigilant day or night and to report anything suspicious immediately."

Witnesses are asked to call Kent Police on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting references ZY/045121/16 for the first burglary and ZY/045085/16 for the second.
