Models, singers, actors and dancers are needed to audition for a talent contest in Canterbury.

The American-based Actors, Models and Talent Competition gives hopefuls the chance to shine in front of Hollywood and Broadway’s biggest casting agents and film bosses, as well as global model agencies and record companies.

It’s normally held twice a year in the United States, but in November organisers launch the first European event at Disneyland Paris and they are looking for people to take part.

The Kent auditions take place at Chaucer Technology School, Spring Lane, Canterbury, on Saturday, August 23

Anyone aged from three to 83 can audition, from models, singers and actors to dancers, stand-up comedians and would-be TV presenters.

Richard Andrews, director of the Canterbury-based Kent Youth Theatre and the American company’s Kent scout, said: “People always tell us they have a dream to work professionally in TV, film or theatre, but don’t know where to begin.

“It is hard to get seen by top agents and casting directors, especially when you are not London based, so we hope it will open many doors for performers from all over Kent.”

Mr Andrews has been teaching, performing, writing, directing and producing drama for 30 years for both the professional and amateur stage and became director of Kent Youth Theatre in 2000.

He has developed its services to include a stage and screen academy, which has seen former students go on to TV and stage success.

AMTC Europe takes place at Disneyland Paris from November 18-24. To audition ring 01227 730177 or 07967 580213.
