Whitstable lifeboat rescues stricken angler

Whitstable lifeboat rescued a stricken angler after his boat broke down on Friday afternoon.

The 16ft angling boat was towed ashore after its engine failed off Reculver, east of Herne Bay.

The lifeboat crew launched at 3.18pm and located the stranded boat one-and-a-half miles offshore near to the East Last Buoy.

The boat was towed to Herne Bay harbour where the mobile coastguard were waiting to assist ashore.
