A female driver had to be cut free from the wreckage of her car after it struck a telegraph pole in a Kent village.

The accident happened in Fawcett Hill, Street End, near Canterbury at 10.45am Tuesday.

The road had to be closed while firefighters and paramedics freed the woman from the French-registered Peugeot.

She was flown to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by the Kent Air Ambulance but her injuries were said to be not life-threatening.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and the road was re-opened just before 11.40am.
