Daniel Bell-Drummond selected for The Hundred by Birmingham Phoenix

Daniel Bell-Drummond has become the latest Kent player to be picked up by the new Hundred competition this summer.

Bell-Drummond was picked up in the latest draft, the picks were announced on Tuesday, and it means five Kent players have now been selected for The Hundred.

Joe Denly and Zak Crawley will feature for London Spirit while Oval Invincibles had already drafted Kent captain Sam Billings and Alex Blake. Kent head coach Matt Walker will be an assistant coach at the Oval Invincibles.

Bell-Drummond was Kent's leading run scorer in last summer's T20 Blast. The 27-year-old scored 423 runs at an average of 42.30. He hit three half-centuries at a strike rate of 154.94 including a top score of 89 against Middlesex.

The Hundred starts on July 21 and finishes on August 21, and teams will be able to add one more wildcard player per squad after the T20 Blast.

It means the five players and Walker will miss Kent's Royal London Cup campaign which gets under way on July 22 against Durham at Beckenham.

That will give another opportunity for emerging talents like Jordan Cox to again impress, after they shone in a truncated season last summer.
