Cindy Botha struck twice as Canterbury Ladies displaced Olton and West Warwicks in the top three after beating the Midlanders 4-2 in the EHL Premier Division at Polo Farm on Sunday.

The former South African under-21 international was making her final Canterbury appearance before flying home but the club hope she will return in the New Year.

Jenny Hall's 13th minute opener for Canterbury was swiftly cancelled out by Denise Marston-Smith before Botha struck on 19 and 29 minutes to give the hosts a 3-1 half-time lead.

Two minutes into the second period Emma McCabe gave Olton hopes of a comeback but German Lisa Hapke wrapped up the points when she grabbed Canterbury's fourth with 15 minutes remainining.

Canterbury men saw their lead at the top of Conference East cut to three points when they were held 3-3 away to Bromley and Beckenham.

The visitors led 3-1 before goals from Simon Evans (50 minutes) and John Brett (57 minutes) earned Bromley a point.

Canterbury top scorer Lloyd Norris-Jones continued his prolific run with two more goals while Leigh Barratt was their other marksman. Matthew Baggs opened Bromley's account.

On Sunday, Canterbury breezed into the quarter-finals of the HA Cup when they brushed aside fellow Conference East side Indian Gymkhana 6-1 at Polo Farm.

The sides meet again in the league at Polo this weekend.
