KENT'S coach and director of cricket Ian Brayshaw has decided not to return to the club next year.

Brayshaw, 61, a member of Western Australia’s most successful Sheffield Shield side, will not be back for a third season for family reasons. He said: "I have enjoyed every minute of my time at Kent and will take with me many happy memories.

"The staff contains some highly talented cricketers and in Simon Willis and Chris Stone the club have two excellent coaches, so I am confident the club will continue to perform at the top level of English cricket for years to come."

Kent’s chairman of cricket Mike Denness confirmed Brayshaw has given the club his blueprint for the future of coaching at the county and that the committee will consider the Australian's plan before appointing his successor.

Ironically, the name of Brayshaw’s former state captain John Iverarity, who is in the first season of a two-year deal with this week’s opponents Warwickshire, may well be linked with a return to St Lawrence.

The county discussed their players' retained list at committee level on Tuesday evening and hope to announce any decisions come the end of the campaign.

James Hewitt and Ian Flanagan were released earlier in ther season, leaving Matt Walker, Ben Trott and Mark Ealham as the three senior players up for contract renewal.
