County's golf girls to compete on home turf

MEMBERS of Canterbury Golf Club are to host a junior girls inter-county team championship at Scotland Hills.

Teams of seven representing Kent, Essex, Middlesex, Surrey and Sussex will compete in English Ladies’ Golf Association South East Division 2 from Tuesday, August 15 to Thursday, August 17.

The winners will later play the champions of South East Division 1 with all the area divisions playing each other in the national final.

The Kent team at Canterbury includes Faversham’s Sian Evans who is joined by Rebecca Pike (Sene Valley), Charlotte Hope (Wrotham Heath), Jerry Lawrence (Rochester and Cobham), Megan Roberts (Sunbridge Park), Kimberley Head (Kent National), Jemma Aldridge (Sundridge Park) and Coral Jones (Dartford). All are single handicap players ranging in age from 13 to 18.

Spectators are welcome although the club ask that they keep to the side of the fairways.

Programme, Tuesday afternoon: Kent Stableford score, Sussex v Surrey, Essex v Middlesex; Wednesday morning: Essex Stableford score, Kent v Surrey, Middlesex v Sussex; afternoon: Middlesex Stableford score, Surrey v Essex, Kent v Sussex; Thursday morning: Sussex Stableford score, Middlesex v Surrey, Kent v Essex; afternoon: Surrey Stableford score, Kent v Middlesex, Sussex v Essex.
