Early call for Sky spectacular

KENT Cricket Club are advising their supporters to set out for Canterbury early for Tuesday’s afternoon-evening National League game against Warwickshire. And they are warning residents near the ground that the mobile floodlights will be tested on Sunday and Monday evening ahead of Tuesday’s start at 4.10pm.

The Old Dover Road gates will open at 2pm, but police are enforcing a one-way system along the Old Dover Road with overflow parking at the nearby Simon Langton School. The match is to be televised by Sky Sports and will include an array of events including bands and a free-fall parachute display.

The following day Kent head west for Thursday’s Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy tie with Somerset in Taunton.

Championship captain David Fulton, with a finger injury, and one-day skipper Matthew Fleming, with a damaged thigh, are both likely to win fitness battles in time for the clash for a place in the August 31 showpiece at Lord’s.
