Supporters have voted for their Kent Spitfires’ greatest overseas star.
Kent fans were polled last week on the club’s social media platforms and picked former Australia all-rounder Andrew Symonds as the greatest white-ball overseas player in the history of the Spitfires.
There have been 36 imports since the Kent Spitfires name was taken up 21 years ago.
The poll was supported by the club partners WW Martin.
Symonds received 443 out of over 2,000 total votes cast after leading the polls for the majority of the week-long search.
He beat off the likes of Azhar Mahmood, New Zealander Matt Henry - who won’t now be coming back for a second spell - and Rahul Dravid. South African Andrew Hall completed the top-five of the overall standings.
Symonds scored 1,690 runs for the Spitfires between 1999 and 2004. He also took 69 wickets, including figures of 5-18 in 2001 against Warwickshire.
He also impressed in Kent's first ever T20 match in 2003, smashing 96 not out from just 37 deliveries and produced a the quickest ever T20 century, at Maidstone in 2004, reaching his ton against Middlesex in only 34 balls and in 37 minutes.
