Canterbury v St Ives

INJURIES and unavailability mean a call-up for several fringe players to Canterbury’s 22-man squad for the EDF Energy National Trophy second round tie against Cornish opponents St Ives at Merton Lane on Saturday.

Front row pair Jamie Forsyth and Steve Goode are missing, while Dave Weston has work commitments, Hungarian international pair Zolton Hackel and Zoltan Kollar are included together with youngsters Jamie Freeman and Jack Tomlinson, who get their first chance together.

UKC student Matt Noble will provide cover at fly half and centre.

Prop Hackel and lock forward Kollar are both likely to feature again, having played in the 15-7 first round win over Ealing last month.

Coach Danny Vaughan is set to rest several first team regulars for with an eye on tough National League games ahead.
