Packed crowd expected for Waugh's debut

AUSSIE legend Steve Waugh makes his Kent debut at Canterbury tonight in front of what is expected to be a full house as the Spitfires take on Leicestershire Foxes in a crucial Norwich Union League fixture.

The Spitfires are in third place in the table but with just five games left they need to win every game if they are to retain their Division 1 title.

Waugh goes straight into the squad for tonight’s day/night game and captain Matthew Fleming is hoping to turn up the heat on Glamorgan and Worcestershire.

He said: “We've got a good, but tough, run in but with Steve Waugh on board it’s not going to make us any weaker."

Fleming is sweating on Min Patel’s fitness with Rob Ferley waiting in the wings. James Hockley certainly misses out as he has been dropped to the seconds in a bid to try and rediscover some form.

Kent (from): Fleming, Smith, Jones, Waugh, Fulton, Ealham, Nixon, Golding, Patel, Tredwell, Saggers, Masters, Khan, Ferley.
