Faversham Town boss Ray Turner says despite his side's poor run of form, he is pleased that the club seems to be making progress off the field.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Guernsey attracted a crowd of 245 and took Town’s average for their eight home games in Ryman League, Division 1 South this term to 206, up from 182 last season – a figure buoyed by a figure of 615 against Maidstone.

Despite his disappointment that the Lilywhites lost a game they controlled, Turner said: “The crowd has been fantastic.

“We are averaging over 200 this season which is great. We are building the club, we made great strides on the pitch last season and we’re doing it off the field this year.”

Despite having won just one of their last 11 games in all competitions, Turner remains positive, with Town still only four points off a play-off place.

He said: “I am a bit frustrated for the players, they are giving it everything but not getting the rewards for their efforts.

“If we keep showing the attitude we have been showing, then it will turn around soon.”

He added: “It’s a good test for me as a manager because previously we have always tended to come out of these dips in form fairly quickly in my time here.

“Nobody likes being in runs like this. We have to come through and deal with situations like this.

“You have to take a calm approach, you sometimes see five or six changes and changes in system but I don’t think we’re at that stage yet.

“We’ll give it more time. We’ve actually played quite well in the last couple of games.”

Folkestone Invicta – another surprise struggler in Division 1 South this season – visit Salters Lane on Saturday and Turner said: “It should be a good game between two good sides.

“I hear Folkestone have played a couple of teams off the park but ended up losing the game, which is something we are familiar with too.

“They have won here the last couple of years so they obviously like coming here but hopefully it’s time we got a win.”

Danny Hockton (hamstring) should be fit for a place on the bench while Renford Tenyue is expected to be fit despite coming off with a knock against Guernsey.
