Kent interested in Notts seamer Matt Milnes

Matt Walker has confirmed Kent’s interest in Nottinghamshire bowler Matt Milnes.

The 23-year-old seamer is out of contract at the end of the season and Kent have put in a 28-day approach.

The Nottingham Post reported earlier this week of the club’s interest in signing Milnes.

Following Kent’s win over Middlesex in the County Championship, head coach Walker said: “We are definitely looking at him. There’s no secret about that.

“We are looking as always to recruit and he fits the profile we want. He’s obviously playing for them at the moment.

“It’s up to Notts to make a decision to sign him or offer him something. He’s out of contract so we are within our right to put in a 28 day approach for Matt.”

Milnes made his Championship debut for Notts earlier this month in their match against Somerset.

He then impressed in their match with Essex at Chelmsford taking 4-44 in the second innings.

Walker added: “We like what we see and it’s up to him. We’ve had conversations and nothing further than that at the moment and it might be someone we end up signing at some stage.

“At the moment it’s early days and he’s obviously doing very well for Notts and we don’t want to get in the way of that.”
