The Addicks scored a goal in either half to win at lowly Cardiff and record their fourth successive away victory.
Pardew said: "We were very, very disciplined out there - it was a very accomplished performance.
"I thought we looked a very good side - and we need to take that discipline to our home games
"This was a big win for us. I would have preferred to win in front of our home fans at The Valley but you have to take the points when you can."

Skipper Reid rounded off a good evening's work with 11 minutes left when he scored from the penalty spot after Darren Ambrose was felled.
