Transport police confirm a man was killed after they were hit by a train near Dartford station

The person who died after being struck by a train near Dartford train station was a man in his 30s, police have today confirmed.

Officers from the British Transport Police and Kent Police were called to the line at Stone Crossing at 6.30am yesterday.

Ambulance crews were also called but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A British Transport Police spokesman said the circumstances around the death were not suspicious and a report is currently being prepared for the coroner.

The man's next of kin have been informed.

A replacement bus service was running between Dartford and Gravesend while emergency services were at the scene.

The line was reopened at around 10.30am.

It was the first of two train-line deaths that day. A woman also died after being hit by a train at Hildenborough railway station last night.
