Second teenager arrested after elderly couple hurt in burglary in Hextable near Dartford

A second teenager has been arrested after an elderly couple were badly beaten in a daylight attack in their home.

Police held a 17-year-old boy in connection with the aggravated burglary in which the pair - in their 80s - were seriously hurt in Hextable.

He remains in police custody after a 16-year-old boy arrested yesterday was released without charge.

The couple were taken to King's College Hospital in London with non-life threatening injuries after the burglary, in the Panters, at about 9am on Tuesday.

The man remains in hospital, while the woman was discharged yesterday.

Witnesses reported seeing up to nine police cars as well as ambulances outside the property, part of a development of retired and sheltered accommodation run by West Kent Housing Association.
