Wilmington parish council calls for help to repair village sign damaged by storm

Villagers are appealing for help to restore their sign and get it “back in its rightful place” after it was damaged in a storm.

The post marking the start of Wilmington village has been removed from outside the Memorial Hall on the High Road at the junction with Barn End Lane.

The picture has already been restored with the help of local artist Richard Slater but now Wilmington parish council is looking for someone to help finish off the job.

It says it has a fabricator who is able to construct the metal frame to house the 4' x 3' sign and post but it needs someone to design them and produce a precise to scale technical drawing.

As well as a structural engineer to agree and test the design and sort out how it is to be reinstalled.

A spokesman for the parish council said: “We are eager to get the sign back in its rightful place at the heart of the Village.”

Anyone able to help is asked to email clerk-wpc@outlook.com.
