Kent Police appeal after man hit by lorry near Dartford Crossing

Witnesses are being urged to come forward after an elderly man was hit by a lorry.

The incident happened near the Dartford Crossing at 2.24pm yesterday (Saturday) and involved a white Iveco articulated HGV and a pedestrian.

Patrols and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the slip road from the London-bound carriageway of the A2, just before it joins the A282 towards the Dartford Crossing.

A man in his 80s was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 59-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and taken into custody.

A police spokesman said inquiries into the incident are under way and officers would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision.

Drivers with dashcam are also asked to check for footage that may assist the investigation. Dashcam footage can be uploaded here.
