Dartford Crossing: Lanes reduced due to essential maintenance

One of the busiest road stretches in Kent could be clogged this weekend as essential work is carried out overnight.

The Dartford Crossing will be reduced to one lane in each direction overnight tomorrow.

Essential maintenance work and testing of emergency procedures will be carried out in both of the two tunnels that carry northbound M25 traffic between Kent and Essex.

A contraflow will be in place over the QEII Bridge, which will maintain traffic flow in both directions and to avoid a lengthy diversion for northbound traffic.

The QEII Bridge contraflow will be in operation from 10pm tomorrow until 6am on Sunday.

Lane one will be open to traffic travelling southbound, lanes two and three will be closed as safety lanes, and lane four will be open to traffic travelling northbound.

Drivers are advised to check conditions before setting out and be prepared to allow extra time for their journeys if they are using Dartford Crossing overnight.
