Drivers had been halted from Junction 31, near Lakeside shopping centre in Essex, to Junction 1a A206, Dartford from around 12.45pm this afternoon.

Congestion reached back to Junction 30 but traffic has since been released.

Essex Police, who are dealing with the incident, opened up all four lanes again just before 1.30pm.

They said: “We are currently responding to concerns for someone on the Dartford Crossing.

“Traffic was being held while this incident was ongoing.

“We will work to resolve this situation as quickly and safely as possible.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding, we will update you as soon as we're able to.”
