Police and fire crews called to The Orchards shopping centre after woman seen on roof

Police and fire crews attended a shopping centre after a woman was spotted on the roof.

A woman was seen on the roof of the The Orchards, Dartford at 10.23am.

A road was temporarily blocked to allow emergency vehicles to pass, who arrived on the Aldi side of the car park.

Jacky Sutton, who was on the scene, said: "I was driving out of the shopping centre and I saw two police and security guard from the shopping centre.

"Then as I drove down to get out of the car park, they were not letting us through to leave then I saw the fire engine and police cars."

"I saw her standing on the peak of the roof of the Orchard Shopping Centre. It looks like they talked him down."

Police spokesman James Walker said: "Kent Police received a report that a distressed woman had been seen on the roof of a supermarket in The Orchards, Dartford, at 10.23am on Friday, May 3."

"Officers attended the scene and have since led the woman to a safe location.

"A cordon was briefly put in place but this has been lifted."
