Fire stops train

A fire broke out on a train last night.

Four crews were called to Dartford Station, in Station approach, after the train of eight carriages was stopped.

It is belevied someone had set light to a newspaper on one of the seats of the 23.48 Southeastern service from London Bridge.

A member of staff had already extinguished the small fire when the crews from Thames-side and Dartford's red watch arrived on the scene.

Crew manager Bob Chilmaid said: "The fire is believed to have been started deliberately.

"It did not cause much damage."

British Transport Police were also in attendance.
