Man threatens driver outside petrol station in Welling and gets run over as panic buyers queue

As fury over frenzied panic buying mounts footage has emerged of one man being run over after threatening a driver.

Filmed outside a petrol station in Welling, near Dartford, the irate man can be seen remonstrating while clutching an implement.

It is not clear exactly what he is holding but moments later he is seen clinging to the midnight blue Citroen's bonnet after it has rammed him towards the packed Shell forecourt.

After falling from the car he boots the driver's door and then the wing mirror, smashing it out of position.

It's not clear what caused the fracas but traffic outside the garage is at gridlock.

A Met Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 2.37pm on Monday, September 27 to reports of a disturbance involving two motorists outside a petrol garage in Bellegrove Road, Welling.

"Officers attended and found no trace of either vehicle. No injuries were reported and no suspects were identified.

"We are aware of footage online which appears to show the incident and will review this as part of our ongoing enquiries."

On Sunday, we reported how a RNLI member was abused as he filled up jerry cans with essential fuel for life boats.

Queues have mounted outside garages for four days since BP warned an HGV driver crisis was causing supply issues at a handful of sites.

Motorists have repeatedly been told there is no fuel shortage but have swarmed forecourts regardless.

Industry bosses have now said they expect demand to fall in the next few days as cars have more fuel than they need.
