Girl, 16, 'sexually assaulted' at bus stop in Garrick Street, Gravesend

Police have appealed for two good Samaritans to come forward after they helped a screaming girl allegedly attacked by a man at a bus stop.

It comes after the alleged attack 10.15pm and 10.30pm on June 13.

The victim, a 16-year-old girl, was sitting in a bus stop in Garrick Street, Gravesend, when it is said a man approached her and offered her money to come home with him.

When she refused he left. But five minutes later, he returned, again offering money. The victim said no again and got up to leave. The suspect then grabbed her and tried to kiss her.

When the victim screamed, two women came over to help and the suspect fled.

Police now want the women who helped her to come forward.

Investigating officer, PC Gary Morris, said: "This incident left the victim very upset and we are making enquiries to locate the suspect.

"Anybody with information is asked to come forward and I would particularly like to speak to the two women who came to the victim's aid."

Anyone with information should call PC Morris on 01474 366060, quoting crime reference XY/18460/13, or Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
