Hotel and restaurant brings 45 jobs to Dartford

A restaurant and hotel is bucking the gloomy economic trend by creating 45 jobs in Dartford.

The new £6.6 million Beefeater Grill and 60-bed Premier Inn is set to open in Halcrow Avenue, Dartford, next month.

The restaurant has been named The Beacon to reflect the borough's maritime history, thanks to a Messenger reader.

Paul Greenstreet, of Hatton Close, Northfleet won a competition in the Messenger to name the watering hole being built at The Bridge.

The restaurant will incorporate several green initiatives such as under-floor heating to avoid the use of radiators, LED lighting in the reception and restaurant, and energy efficient kitchens.
