Convicted killer and former boxer Eddy Ives back in court after barking at Rose pub barmaid in Gravesend

Former boxer Eddy Ives went to the Rose pub in Gravesend in defiance of a court order issued after his release from jail.

Prosecutor Donal Lawler told Maidstone Crown Court how the 34-year-old was released on September 17 last year.

"He was made subject to a Violent Offender Order, with conditions of not to enter Dartford and not to be drunk or under the influence of a controlled drug in a public place.

"He was also ordered not to engage in any behaviour which is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress."

In 2013, Ives was convicted of beating a stranger to death in a Dartford kebab shop.

The former champion schoolboy boxer and Olympic hopeful attacked Ben Mahoney after a row broke out over Ives' attitude towards staff in the House on the Hill kebab shop.

After the brutal assault Ives demanded compensation from his prone victim for a stain on his jumper, threatened his terrified friend and swiped food.

On Tuesday, January 25, last year - after serving his eight-year term in full - Ives was seen by a barmaid at the Rose barking through the window.

She would later explain she knew who Ives was and "something of his history".

He entered the pub behaving in a loud manner "boasting about stealing meat from another shop in town."

The prosecutor said Ives "began hovering near the bar" and when she asked if she could help he answered in a "creepy manner", saying:"I know what you want" while looking her up and down.

After paying for the drinks, Ives then made a grab for her wrists, leaving her feeling scared. He then began asking her for her telephone number.

"He then asked if she had a boyfriend. He was starting to intimidate her and she was worried about what he would do next," Mr Lawler said.

The barmaid later went home and was warned not to return "as Ives has been back looking for you". She later said the incident had left her "beyond terrified" and she had moved out of the area for a period.

Ives, of Sheppey Beach Villas, Leysdown, was later seen pushing over another woman before attempting to punch and kick a man who was standing at a bus stop.

The father-of-two admitted the breach of the order and received a 36-week jail sentence. He is also banned indefinitely from going within 100 metres of the pub.

However, it's believed he was released due to time served.
