Dartford Crossing west tunnel closed after car and lorry crash

There were long delays on the M25 this morning following a crash involving a car and a lorry.

The west tunnel of the A282 Dartford Crossing was closed as a result of the accident, but reopened just before 8am.

There were delays of up to 60 minutes, with five miles of congestion stretching back to the M25 J3 for Swanley.

A spokesman from police said: “We were notified of a collision involving a car and a lorry at the exit of the Dartford Tunnel at 5.43am.

“Highways officers attended the scene where no injuries were reported.

“Traffic was held and then diverted to the second tunnel while the vehicles were moved from the carriageway.”
