At one point, congestion stretched back past the Bluewater exit and towards Gravesend.

A police spokesman said earlier: "Kent Police was called to a reported car fire on a slip road linking the A2 to the M25 at 10.24am on Friday 7 October.

"Kent Fire and Rescue Service is also in attendance and a road closure is currently being enforced."
