M25 has miles of delays after accident at Junction 3 for Swanley

Motorists faced several miles of queues on the M25 after an accident thought to have involved two cars and a van in which has left people with injuries.

At its worst, tailbacks stretched back 11 miles on the clockwise carriageway from Junction 3 the Swanley Interchange to Junction 29, just before Lakeside.

All traffic had been held while ambulance crews and police dealt with the incident.

All lanes have been reopened but drivers faced severe delays for several hours.

Kent Police was called at 6.27am to the collision between Junction 2 and 3.

Officers are in attendance along with ambulance crews.

Injuries have been reported but the extent of these has not been revealed.

Traffic conditions have returned to normal.
