Kent detectives to visit Peru following death of Dartford mum Karla Godoy

Two senior Kent murder case detectives will be flying to Peru next month to collect evidence in the death of Karla Godoy.

They will be making the 12,000 mile round trip to Lima after making arrangements with the Peruvian authorities.

Ms Godoy's body was discovered in South America and her partner Jorge Garay, 46, was later arrested in London.

The couple lived in Hythe Street, Dartford and both worked at Ebbsfleet Lorry Park.

Last October, emotional tributes poured in for the Kent mum.

She had been at Pioneer FM for almost two years and was said to bring "sunshine into everyone’s life".

Garay has appeared at Maidstone Crown Court and was told via a Spanish interpreter that he has until February 23 to formally submit his defence after pleading not guilty to murder.

Ed Burge, KC, is to be instructed to appear on his behalf at the trial on April 3, in front of a High Court judge.

Prosecutor Philip Bennetts KC said witnesses are expected to make the journey from Peru to give evidence.

Garay is alleged to have killed his 37-year-old lover Karla Godoy in Lima, Peru, between Wednesday, September 21, and Sunday, October 2.

Her body was discovered wrapped in blue plastic sheeting and buried in a shallow grave in the South American capital.
