Part of Dartford Crossing to close for 19 nights for maintenance work

Part of the Dartford Crossing is to close every night for almost three weeks.

The first overnight closure of the A282 northbound west tunnel is scheduled for this weekend.

There will be closures from 10pm until 5.30am every night from Friday, December 1, until Tuesday, December 19.

It comes as National Highways continues its tunnel maintenance work which is expected to last until the end of the year.

A spokesman said: “We’re carrying out routine repairs to various components such as the steelwork, drainage and electrical equipment to keep journeys safe and reliable.”

Last weekend the QEII bridge was shut overnight for resurfacing work.

At the time a National Highways spokesman said: “We will undertake safety inspections and general maintenance on the QEII bridge at the Dartford Crossing.

“The closure will carry out some additional resurfacing work within lanes 1, 2, and 3 to help keep journeys safe.”
