Police incident closes M20 in both directions between junctions 2 and 3

The M20 was closed in both directions during the morning rush hour over concerns for a person’s welfare.

The motorway was shut between junction 2 for the A20 London Road, near Brands Hatch, and junction 3 for the M26 interchange for just over an hour.

Traffic was stopped after police officers were called at about 6.30am to fears for a person’s welfare.

All three lanes in both directions were closed while the force and National Highways officers responded to the incident.

The person has been passed into the care of health professionals.

Both carriageways reopened at about 8am, but delays remained until just before 9am.

Traffic is now back to normal.
