Primark wants to build 20ft illuminated signs at Bluewater as planning application sent

Primark is set to light up a shopping centre with two 20ft illuminated signs if it opens next year.

The retailer remains on track to open a new store next year after submitting a planning application.

The retail giant’s move to Bluewater was comfirmed exclusively by KentOnline back last September, having long been rumoured.

Its planning application includes proposals to build two huge 20ft-illuminated signs.

The low-cost fashion chain has leased a 60,000 sq ft space across two floors between House of Fraser and All Saints.

It will result in 46,000 sq ft of selling space, with the remainder used for stock and office functions.

The new store will sell women’s, men’s and children’s fashions, as well as footwear, lingerie, beauty and homeware.

Recently, work started on combining a number of shops ready for its arrival.

The opening prompted former tenant the Early Learning Centre to close its store and open a concession within Mothercare at the centre.
