Ram-raiders use moped to smash into hair salon in Dartford

Brazen thieves carried out a ram-raid on a hair-dressing salon in Dartford – on a moped.

Two men smashed through the glass door of Mark Mardell Hair Salon in Market Street at about 5pm on New Year's Day and made off with some of the stock.

It took them three attempts to smash through the door, but afterwards they were in and out within a minute.

They were caught on the salon's CCTV and the registration of their Honda, which had L-plates, has been reported to the police.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses to the raid, or from any drivers passing the scene who may have daschcam footage that could prove useful in catching the thieves.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 5.24pm on Saturday to reports of a burglary at a business premises on Market Street.

"Officers attended the scene and inquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Kent Police on 01474 366149 quoting reference 46/603/22."
