Residents across Dartford are being warned after workers, claiming to be tree surgeons, charged one individual more than £1000 for work which was never completed.

They said the group, who wore dark green t-shirts, 'cold called' residents in Sutton-At-Hone offering tree care, hedge trimming and other services.

The workers also distributed leaflets with the name 'Kent Tree Surgery' with both local and London telephone numbers.

One resident was charged £1,200 for work which was never completed while another paid £300 cash for substandard work in their garden.

Trading Standards want to speak to five men in relation to the incidents. One is in his early 50s with grey hair and the others are in their 20s, all with local accents. Two of the younger men are believed to be brothers.

A white flat bed truck, registered WL58 BYJ, with green writing stating 'Tree Surgery' has also been associated with the reported incidents.
