School meeting cancelled

A public meeting to discuss the merger of two Dartford schools has been cancelled because of the heavy snow.

Kent County Council chiefs are considering the amalgamation of Fleetdown Infant School and Fleetdown Junior School after their respective head teachers, Margaret Moyle and Susan Clement, announced in December, plans to retire this year.

The proposals, which are automatic when the heads of 'linked' junior and infant schools move on, would see the two Lunedale Road schools form one new community primary school.

A meeting was due to be held at the school tonight to discuss the proposals - and consultation - with parents. But due to the heavy snow the meeting has been rescheduled and will now take place next Wednesday at 7pm.
