It is alleged a man went into the London Road store at about 5pm on November 11 and tried to steal clothing and confectionery, police said.

He was challenged by a member of staff while trying to leave and is reported to have made racist comments towards them before leaving empty handed.

Investigating officer PC Charlie Butler said: "We would like to identify the person pictured in the CCTV image who we believe may be able to assist with our enquiries.

"I would urge anybody who recognises him to contact the appeal line."
