A car chase ended with a suspect attempting to evade police by fleeing his vehicle and clambering onto the roof of a church.

Officers from Kent Police had been pursuing a BMW in Dartford and were led into Crayford before the suspect left the car and camped themselves atop the shuttered Barclays branch in Crayford Road, now the City of God church.

Motorists faced disruption as road closures were enforced while officers negotiated with the suspect and an arrest has since been made.

The incident is now in the hands of Met Police.
