Two cars and a van were found to have broken windows and inquiries are ongoing to identify if any property has been stolen from inside.

Inspector Mark Stubberfield said: "It appears these men were disturbed by a resident and quickly left the area.

"While we are making inquiries to track them down I would urge car and van owners to take some simple precautions to avoid becoming a victim of crime."

There are a number of steps which can be taken to help prevent items being stolen from vehicles including removing all valuables when cars are left unattended.

People can also park in well-lit secure locations, in a locked garage or on a driveway and if possible, consider investing in CCTV and sensors which alert people when someone walks near their vehicle or driveway.

It is also a good idea to security mark valuables and report anything suspicious to police.

Anyone who has information that may help the investigation is asked to contact Kent Police on 01622 604100 quoting reference 08-0166 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
