A twelve-year-old boy is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Dartford.

The boy, who is a French exchange student, suffered head and leg injuries after being hit on the A226 at West Hill, yesterday (Saturday) .

He had been walking along West Hill towards Dartford with two friends when he was struck by a white Mini Cooper at 5.34pm.

He was flown by Kent Air Ambulance, pictured at the scene, to the Royal London Hospital where his condition was today described as critical but stable.

PC David Jeeves from Kent Police’s serious collision investigation unit, appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He said: “This is one of the main roads into Dartford town centre and at just after half past five on a Saturday afternoon would have been busy.

“I urge anyone who saw the incident to phone the unit’s witness appeal line on 01622 798538.”
